With no recent reports, it seems a bad time to be writing one. However yesterday’s performance against what is in essence a fairly average team was not acceptable. With some key players missing the Vaders traveled to Llantwit for what should have been 3 points with only 11 players.
The Vaders came away with nothing after taking a 4-0 defeat at the hands of 10 men. With nothing to offer from either flank or in attack this was one of the worst Vader performances to date.
Richard Boydell and Tom Evans bossed the middle of the park where they could and ran their legs off up and down the field. Another solid performance at right back for Morgan Evans means Jammy could find himself with competition for his position.
Injuries to Scott, Liam, Ieuan M, didn’t help from the previous week against the Pats, and with Gouldy crying off with a hangover it gave some of the fringe players a chance to shine. Unfortunately the only thing shining on the day was the Sun in Matthew Evans’s face.
The Vaders will need something special next week against Coedely even though the Vaders beat them in the first game of the season.
The consensus was that the Vaders needed to train again, but Coach Rob Boydell has heard that before, and when Thursday comes there’ll only be the usual 6 or 7 people there as there seems to be very little interest in training these days which is a shame.

Vaders vs Vets 2012

It’s that time of year again where the Vaders take on legends of the past (and some still present) to raise some money for children’s charity Cots for Tots.
This year will see the return of some of last years Vets and the addition of some new (old) blood which should make for another competitive game. The Vaders will be looking to put the embarrassment of drawing last season behind them and the Vets look to build on last year’s result, even if it means fielding more than 13 players this time.
The game will kick off at 11am, Sunday 28 October and we will then be heading back to the Garn Inn for the after party, food and a raffle amongst other things (drinking).
Everybody and anybody is welcome to both the game and the Garn as we look to raise more funds for this worthwhile cause. If we manage to get even half of last year’s £2,000 we will be more than happy.
UPDATE
Sunday’s referee has been announced. A few weeks back he caught wind that Eddie Boydell was lacing up his boots once more for the Vaders vs Vets game, and with fear trembling through his skinny little legs at the thought of being outdone once more by a man 30 years his senior, Leigh ‘Jammy’ James decided to break his arm so he could miss the game. So, this year he returns with a whistle at the centre of the action. Good luck everyone!
