So into the second game of the season and off the back of a win against Llantwit Lions The Vader’s donned their new battle uniforms and took to the field. Coity, a new team to the league looked very keen with their warm-ups and 18 players on hand.
So, from the off, The Vader’s looked the stronger team with plenty of battles going on all over the park. Winger Lee Isaac was playing some impressive 1-2’s with Richard Boydell and Stephen Gould and taking it around the smelly left back every time he had the ball. It was one of these instances that lead to the first goal, with a delightful ball put through to Lee, and one on one with the keeper he was sure to score, the keeper decided to pull him down in the box. Step up Titch who converted with some style. 1-0 Vaders.
Within minutes another break starting in midfield Striker Ieuan Morris found himself alone in front of goal and a shot from outside the box saw the ball under the keeper and in the net.
The Vaders added a third via a cross/shot from Defender Matthew “cock of the week” Evans and found Titch’s head and into the net. Within 15 minutes the Vaders were 3-0 up and cruising. This looked to be a battering for Coity in the Vaderdrome, but as usual The Vader’s then took to sitting back a bit and paid the price twice before the half time whistle due to two poor clearances.
So 3-2 at the break and this match wasn’t over by a long shot. The Vader’s needed the next goal. 20 minutes into the second half changes were made, Rob Boydell for Matthew Evans at left back, Ben Poole for Tom Evans on the left mid and Blackie For Lee Isaac with Titch moving out to the right hand side. This proved effective as the Vader’s immediately went 4-2 up which marked a hat-trick for Striker Titch. Coity looked deflated but pushed 10 men into the Vaders half and came away with a lucky goal.
The Vader’s were now under the cosh and had to defend for the remaining 10 minutes, but managed to see out the game as victors.
