The Vader’s Win 3rd on the Bounce, and manage a clean sheet
On the wettest day of the year The Vader’s had a late kick-off in order to watch the S.A Versus Wales game.
The field was very waterlogged but with both teams keen to play in this Cup game the fixture went ahead.
The first half was a hard fought battle and it took until the 35th minute for the first goal to hit the back of the net. Luckily it was the Vader’s who scored, a lovely cross field pass from Titch to set up a tap in for Striker Ieuan Morris.
Half time came and went and the Vaders were ready to go again in the second half. Hopefully the gamble on playing towards the Cymmer End in the first half would make it increasingly difficult for the Rhino’s to get the ball moving in the thick mud. This proved a worthwhile decision and The Vaders were soon 2-0 up with pretty much and identical goal to the first. Another assist from Midfielder/Striker Titch saw Ieuan have another tap in, albeit a little more difficult than the first one.
The Vader’s now had their tails up and Tom Evans made way for Lee Nicholas on 70 minutes. Just as Blackie was about to be swapped for Titch, he assisted in yet another goal for Ieuan Morris resulting in 3 assists and 3 goals for the strike force.
The partnership between these two is incredible and if kept fit will definitely make the difference to the Vader’s season this year.
There wasn’t a bad performance from anyone on the field yesterday and had it not been for Scott Sainsburys excellent performance at centre half there were many candidates up for man of the match. On a normal day it could have been Christiano “the penis” Powys, Titch, Ieuan to name a few.
With about 10 minutes to go a clearance from the back via Lee Nicholas saw an inch perfect cross (more by luck than design) from Rob Boydell into the awaiting Stephen “Moomin, Sonia” Gould who put in a perfect header past the goalkeeper. The ball seemed to take an age to get past the goalkeeper, but eventually crossed the line to take the Vader’s to 4-0.
In the dying minutes and under the cosh, Christiano “the penis” Powys took down and attacker to put a doubt on the clean sheet. Step up the most ill looking James Jones you’ve ever seen and saves the penalty with some ease.
The Vader’s progress to the next round and remain unbeaten in the league and cup so far this season.
